Hours: 40-hour week, 3 weeks paid vacation. Hours are flexible, typically being regular working hours but with some evening and weekend work required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate will mainly be supporting the work of the Communications Manager. The responsibilities are ranked by priority below.
1. Customer Relationship Management Software
OREC is migrating to Zoho’s CRM software. The Associate will be the lead person internally to manage this migration over the first 2 months of the placement.
2. Marketing Memberships and Preference Shares
OREC will have a preference share offering open throughout the winter of 2017 and 2018. The Associate will be involved in communicating the benefits of membership and summarizing investment opportunities in the co-op. Leveraging the members for referrals will be a key component. The Associate will also be involved in a phone and a mail out campaign.
3. Online Communications
Online communications platforms include a WordPress website, a Facebook page, a Twitter account, and a YouTube channel. The Associate will be involved in updating these various forms of online communication.
4. Marketing Events
OREC will be hosting information events and tables. The Associate will be involved in organizing these events and staffing the information table.
5. Media relations
All notable events and success stories will be communicated to the media. The Associate will be involved in these communications and setting up interviews for staff and Board members when requested.
6. Administrative support
The Associate will assist with administrative tasks such as documentation, AGM organizing, member communications, and share sale processing.
Field of Study: Communications, Marketing, Business, or relevant field
Relevant Experience Including: online communications (in particular: WordPress websites, Customer Relationship Management software), public speaking, volunteer management, media relations, event organizing, social finance, sustainable energy, budget management, co-operative business structures, networks in Eastern Ontario
Qualified interns must be:
- 4-years minimum work experience
- Relevant Experience (see above)
- Bilingual (English and French)
- Post-secondary graduate
- 30 years of age or less as of start date (as required by the ECO Canada wage subsidy program)
- Never been a recipient of a federal government employment subsidy program
